The Lover begins with a husband leaving for the office politely asking if his wife’s lover will be coming today. She murmurs, “Mmmn,” and suggests he not return before six. In order not to return before six, he will no doubt visit a prostitute. A competition is glossily established. When the lover does come, it is the husband which is not surprising. The kind of sex play that follows suggests this is the necessary titillation and the necessary release of hostility between a man who means to be a master of the house and a wife who means to be both wife and mistress, whatever the house may be.

The Dumb Waiter takes place in the basement of a long abandoned restaurant, two hired killers nervously await their next assignment. Barred from daylight and living public contact by the nature of their work, they expend their waiting time in bickering. So eerie is the situation that everything becomes comic, or grotesque or both.

With three of Singapore’s top artistes of stage and television, real life husband and wife couple, Tan Kheng Hua and Lim Yu-Beng, ignite the stage as the husband and wife involved in a rather strangely erotic game of sex and power in The Lover, and with Gerald Chew pairing with Lim Yu-Beng as the two hired killers waiting for orders in The Dumb Waiter, expect a night filled with humour, erotic fantasy, titillation, and suspense. A night where we UNCOVER the truths that we hide from the ones we hold dear to.

Expect a surprise each night as a cameo appearance of Stage and Television Artistes will come knocking on their doors. Appearances are held secret till the door reveals them, thus creating surprise and suspense.

Directed by accomplished Stage Director, Samantha Scott-Blackhall who’s directing credits have included Modern Dance for Beginners, Popcorn, Agnes of God and The Deep Blue Sea, and Set Designed by Award Winning Set Designer Sebastian Zeng, who’s set designs have included Down the Road, One Flea Spare, Six Degrees of Seperation, Lonely Planet, Popcorn, and Agnes of God, expect the texts of Harold Pinter’s One Act Plays to UNCOVER the dark sides of our human nature.
