Leaving their mark on.....

I'm tired n exhausted fr e whole week...but at the same time enchanted by the latest Observatory album. I can say im so addicted to listening to track5, i have to at least play tt song a second time n more. e way the guitar layers n intertwines w e main melody.. i cant seem to listen enough of it.. each time it exacts a certain reaction in me tt i cant exactly pinpt but i like e way e song's arranged..pretty much.
N Fri's launch of Observatory's 2nd album, Blank Walls, at e esplanade was nothing short of fantastic. if Neil Humphrey (sitting behind us..) cud have said it in one line (which i wished he did only once..) he wud have said it was 'f***ing good!!' to borrow his words that is..But to e dismay of e ppl around him, he had to make his comments known..tt is.. aft every single song! But tt aside, e perf as much as i can say...was the kind of good that leaves u entirely exhausted. who said captivation wasnt exhausting?! it required yr entire attention to discover Leslie Low's voice at its most delicate n vulnerable..when he was singin 'i would place ur hands on a common man's..so tt u wud lose yr grip..' i was like......(yah..just like this.)
There were certain intense moments of build-up too, as if everything was so meticulously held up by every note.. it would suddenly brk n explode if not for e great arrangemts. Stunning. N not to mention, e cvr of david bowie's ashes to ashes finished off e night well. there were lil disruptions w e sound syst n mike but at e end, still a v focused n intense experience for me.

blank walls is moving up n out...its sounds a lil more inventive n a lil brighter this time round... Not as mellow as e previous (which is perhaps the thing tt gvs it a wider range) but still remains starkingly honest n engaging. u have to say it w an 'Ouch.'
(haha..mel, e last paragraph was for mere imitation n entertainmt value.. i.e. in e footsteps of a certain weekly music reviewer...haha)

Sea Of Doubts

no one heeds a warning
no one needs a warning
while their conscience goes a-sailing up
the river life is giving up
an intermittent howling
while your soul is prowling for
a conscience life is giving out
a conscious lie unfolding out

i know he's using me

all the leaves are burning
all the leads are turning up
like dead-end streets and roundabouts
cast across the sea of doubts
my confidence is waning
my confidence is fading from
the lives they have been selling out
the lies they have been handing out

i know he's using me
i know she's using me
